A natural blackjack traditionally pays 3:2, so a $20 wager returns $30 in profit. At 6:5, the same hand pays only $24. The six-dollar difference appears only when a natural occurs, but blackjack is frequent enough that the rule adds roughly 1.4 percentage points to the house edge under common conditions.
