Mir is Russia’s domestic card payment system, operated within the National Payment Card System (NSPK). The Bank of Russia established NSPK in 2014, and Mir cards were introduced as part of the country’s national payment infrastructure. Cardholders can use supported cards for purchases, cash access and other services made available by their bank.

Acceptance outside Russia is not equivalent to Visa or Mastercard coverage and has changed materially over time.
