Blackjack is a comparing-card game in which the player tries to finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards use face value, picture cards normally count as ten, and an ace can count as one or eleven. A two-card 21 made with an ace and a ten-value card is a Blackjack and may receive a special payout when the dealer does not also have Blackjack.
After the initial deal, the available decisions commonly include hit and stand, with doubling and splitting permitted under specified conditions.
