The New Zealand dollar is the currency of New Zealand and is identified by NZD, often written as NZ$ when it needs to be distinguished from other dollar currencies. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand is responsible for issuing banknotes and coins. Five banknote denominations circulate: $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100, and New Zealand's modern notes are printed on polymer.
Both Series 6 and Series 7 notes can remain in circulation, so a valid note does not have to use the newest artwork. For an NZD online account, balances and stake figures are recorded in New Zealand dollars. That can simplify accounting when the payment method also settles in NZD, but it does not remove all possible fees. A foreign card issuer, bank or intermediary can still perform a currency conversion or add its own transaction charge even when the receiving account itself is denominated in NZD.
