The Bulgarian lev, code BGN, is now a former national currency. Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, and the euro became the country’s sole legal tender after the changeover period. The fixed conversion rate was €1 = 1.95583 lev. Bulgarian National Bank continues to exchange lev banknotes and coins under the official conversion arrangements, but BGN is no longer the current transaction currency for new domestic payments. A casino or payment list that still labels BGN as an active Bulgarian account currency is therefore using legacy information unless it explicitly supports old-balance conversion. Modern Bulgarian deposits and withdrawals should be evaluated under EUR support. Historical lev amounts can still be converted at the statutory rate where the official exchange rules apply, but that is different from maintaining a live BGN gambling balance.
