“Azerbaijani new manat” refers to the manat introduced after Azerbaijan’s 2006 redenomination. The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan states that the new-generation currency entered circulation from 2006 at a conversion of 5,000 old manats to one new manat. One manat is divided into 100 gapiks, and AZN is the currency identifier used by the central bank.

Current banknotes are issued in 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 manat denominations. The series continues to be updated: an upgraded 100-manat note entered circulation on 15 July 2026 while older valid notes circulate alongside it. In modern usage the currency is normally called simply the Azerbaijani manat; “new manat” mainly distinguishes the post-2006 unit from the pre-denomination currency.
